Obituary

John R. Bowes, 43, passed away Saturday September 24th, 2022 at the Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ.  He was surrounded by his life partner, family and friends. 

He was born on December 21st, 1978, in Trenton, NJ, to parents Margaret L. West (Peggy) and Wesley Bowes.  John was a Jersey Gurl through and through.  As a child his family moved to Payson, AZ where he spent the majority of his childhood making trouble and creating lasting friendships.  He was never a small-town guy and when the opportunity came, he moved to Phoenix in his early 20s.

Life in the city was full of new adventures for him and the opportunity to explore who he really was.  In Phoenix John built a network of friends that in his later years stretched across continents.  He may have been tough at times, but John always looked out for you.  He was the friend that many wish to have had.

He worked for Bank of America, Meritus, HealthChoice and lastly Blue Cross Blue Shield.  His work was his passion and at times his course.  He always felt short on his work performance but he always received praise for the quality of work he would do.  At his jobs he was given nicknames like "the greeter" because he was always eager to show the new person around.

He had a love for God and all his creations.  He strived to live a life that would honor his creator.  He loved nature, especially pollinators (bees, butterflies and hummingbirds).  He loved his pups Lilly, Peanut and Butters.  He had a love-hate relationship with his partner's chickens. 

His last years he spent traveling to new countries and broadening his horizons.  Ever evolving as he continuously pushed himself to not just do better but to be better.

He was survived by his life partner Johan, his sister Sharon, his nephews Tyler and Teron, his dear friends, and his pets Peanut & Butters as well as the many people whose lives he touched.
